The opening to this movie is Channing Tatum's sexy voice talking about coins, then we get to see him jump into the ocean shirtless to fetch Amanda Seyfried’s bag. Ladies and Gentlemen, that is what I call the perfect way to start a movie.
I love how awkward John (Channing Tatum) is when he asks Savannah (Amanda Seyfried) on a date, he’s so adorable.
If I’m being completely honest, I don’t give a shit about Tim, his character pisses me off throughout the whole movie. Not just because he gets with Savannah - which by the way is just cause she feels sorry for him - but also because he’s so irritating. Savannah kind of pisses me off too. She’s just so good. No one is that perfect and no one cares that much about other people, it's unnatural. I don’t like people who are so unrealistically nice. She also diagnosed John's father with autism which isn’t her right, even if he does have it.
On a more positive note, I love John’s Dad. He’s so sweet and pure.
I’m a sucker for romance so when John and Savannah kiss in the rain my heart melted. Then to make me more emotional there was a super cute montage of them being an adorable couple straight after the rain kiss.
I’m going to try and stop making this about me and more about the movie itself, although I haven’t read the book so I don’t feel right reviewing the movie. So maybe just for this review, it’ll just be me ranting about stupid little things about characters.
Savannah got so pissed about John punching that one dickhead and Tim but they deserved it. The dickhead was being a dickhead and Tim got in the way (like always).
I hate more than anything letting movies make me question some decisions I’ve made in the past but when John was too busy to collect coins with his dad as a teen, I shed a few tears and thought 'maybe I should appreciate my parents more'. Then when John’s father had the audacity to DIE I bawled and literally all I learned from this movie is to appreciate your parents cause they might die like whenever.
Oh, it also taught me not to trust really lovely blonde girls cause they’ll just rip your heart out of your chest and stomp all over it while you’re out there risking your life representing your country.
